Obituary for Mr. Michael Lewis Sudan

Michael Lewis Sudan, 72, of Hiram, GA ascended into the arms of the Lord on Saturday 3/9/2019 surrounded by his closest loved ones: wife, three children, and family. Mike devoted so much of his heart, that the Lord saw fit to give its final beat peacefully on Saturday afternoon during his favorite hobby of napping and without suffering.

Mike was born 2/7/1947 in Atlanta, GA and is preceded by parents Kathryn Sudan Kimsey, Eugene Sudan, second dad and lifelong friend Frank Kimsey, and Shannon's mother Sandra. Mike attended South Cobb High School Class of 1965, with academic accolades and lettering in multiple sports. After graduation, Mike realistically dreamed of playing baseball at Florida State and worked as a lineman with Georgia Power until receiving the letter from Uncle Sam calling him into service during the Vietnam War. He spent 6 years in the Army returning in 1973 most notably as a Pathfinder stationed in Pleiku, Vietnam. Shortly after returning home, Mike began his long career with Lockheed Martin in Marietta, GA. He spent many years heavily involved in the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union Local 709 before his retirement July 1, 2008 after 34 years. Anyone that knew Mike also knew of his many years as a commercial and residential carpet layer.

Mike was a comprehensive athlete playing football and baseball early on; enjoyed bowling and softball in his mid-years, was an extraordinary ping pong and billiards champion, a coach, a mentor, and a dad to many more than just his own children. He was also well-acquainted with the muscle car avocation. Many conversations were had revolving around the early Dodge Challenger, his Mustangs, and other barrel-carbeurated combustion machines.

Mike had a very extensive network of friends and family on multiple spectrums. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Dina, his 3 children: Shannon Sudan Ivey and spouse Jeff; Dathan Lewis Sudan and spouse Karen; Mark Loren Sudan and spouse Katie, sons' mother Debbie Word; stepchildren Hanna and Cooper; grandchildren Clint, Cole, Caity, Jackson, Avery, Kiki, and Kasey; four great grandchildren; one sister Debra Thrasher and spouse John; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that were as close as family.

Mike will always be known for his antics, shenanigans, bad jokes, and giving a hard time to those he loved most, but even more so for his hard-work, selflessness, sincerity, and faith.

"And I heard a voice from heaven saying...Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.”....“Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!”.
Revelation 14:13
